Behind The Wheel

The State of Minnesota requires that all newly licensed drivers under the age of 18 complete 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind the wheel instruction, before they are granted a driver's license. In addition, the state requires that prospective drivers pass a written test before a permit to receive behind the wheel instruction is granted. Finally the state requires that prospective drivers pass a driving test to obtain a driver's license.

The behind the wheel fee must be paid before the permit test is taken.

Behind the wheel instruction is given to 2 students at a time, one student drives while the other observes, in district-provided cars at a schedule arranged between student and teacher.
