Youth Gardening - Creating a Monarch Waystation

Youth Enrichment / After School Activities -
2023-24

Pine County Master Gardener volunteers are hosting Creating a Monarch Waystation!

Most of us have seen Monarch butterflies in our yards and neighborhoods. These butterflies are well known for their bright colors, their connection with milkweed plants and for their long migration journey. During class, we will discover the life of the Majestic Monarch, as well as many other pollinator friends we might see in our yards. We will also enjoy a snack provided by our pollinator friends and plant additional pollinator plants in the ‘Monarch Waystation’, which is located outside under the sign on main street at Pine City Elementary School. Students will come home with plants, seeds and information on how to create a ‘Monarch Waystation’ in their yard which will attract Monarchs, as well as many other pollinator friends. In the case of severe weather, the class will be moved indoors.
